Why do you want an N51 (SULEV) E9X E90 E91 E92 E93?
Why do you want an N51 (SULEV) E9X E90 E91 E92 E93?
BMW produced a Super ultra-low emissions vehicle (SULEV) version of the E9X E90 E91 E92 E93 with the N51 engine. This engine is also found in other models such as the E82 1 series too but I'll keep my post to the model and engine I know best.
Super ultra-low emissions vehicle (SULEV) is a U.S. classification for passenger vehicle emissions. The classification is based on producing 90% fewer emissions than the average gasoline powered vehicle.
While you may own an N51 (SULEV) E9X only vehicles registered in California, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington state, and Washington D.C. are eligible for coverage related to SULEV.

The main reason you should own one is the insane warranty! All emissions-relevant components or systems on SULEV (PZEV) vehicles, in applicable states as noted above, are covered under the California Emission Control Warranty against defects in materials or
workmanship for a period of 15 years or 150,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
NOTE: There are two documents which outline the information stated above:
This parts list of SULEV vehicles can be found in the manual for your vehicle assuming you own an N51 (SULEV) or any SULEV BMW. These parts are listed due to the added complexity of meeting the California emissions standards. To not hold the consumer liable for parts changed due to emissions standards and help to improve emissions, consumers are covered for 15 years or 150,000 miles for the parts listed.

Another question you might ask is what is the difference between the usual N52 and N51 (SULEV). The following engine comparison below is from Turner Motorsports. Other parts such as the radiator. fuel tank and much more are affected but that can be found in the parts list above.
